30
Release Notes:
grml 0.7 - codename <a
31 href="/faq/#releasename">Bootenschnitzl (20060410)

35
grml is a Debian-based Live-CD. It includes a collection of GNU/Linux
36 software especially for users of texttools and system administrators. grml
37 provides automatic hardware detection. You can use grml for example as a
38 rescue system, for analyzing systems/networks or as a working environment. It
39 is not necessary to install anything to a harddisk, you don't even need a
40 harddisk to run it. Due to on-the-fly decompression grml includes about 2.1
41 GiB of software and documentation on the CD.

43
We do need your help!

47
Fixed several bugs, including:

50
#19 grml-0.6: gkrellmd and battery status [wishlist]
51
#20 grml-0.6: GRMLCFG does not work with floppy disk
52
#21 hgrep: hgrep returns always success
55
and issues reported on <a
56 href="http://wiki.grml.org/doku.php?id=grml_0.6">grml_0.6 @
61
Several improved, updated and extended configuration files.

63
New grml-scripts (some selected ones):

66
bt-audio: script to connect bluetooth headset to computer
67
get_tw_cli: get 3ware RAID controller command line interface tool (tw_cli)
68
event-viewer: program to see all fork/exec/exit/uid/gid events on a
69 running system using the new netlink/fork connector interface from linux
73
New bootparameters/cheatcodes (some selected ones):

76
vmware: disable usb/firewire detection during bootprocess, load some SCSI-modules instead
79
grml2hd (install grml to harddisk):

82
check for given mbr option and prompt for activating it if not set
83
changed initrd/initramfs generator from yaird to initramfs: now booting via firewire is also possible
84
added resume, brltty, speakup_synth and swspeak to list of grml2hd-bootparams so it's easier to use out of the box
85
changed logic in grml2hd dialog for package removal: now select packages which should be kept
88
See grml.org/grml2hd/ for more details.

90
grml2usb (install grml
94
improved error handling and its output
95
activate bootoption usb by default in syslinux.cfg
96
added uninstall option
99
Special new features:

103
/bin/sh now points to /bin/bash; reason: Debian does not support zsh as
104 /bin/sh, zsh is used as interactive shell anyway of course
106
reworked zsh completion (no error correction on rm and mv commands)
108
grub can be called from bootmenu (in isolinux) through running 'grub'
109 now; thanks a lot to Rafael Steiner!
111
reworked 'swspeak' bootoption: sound output during startup, start
112 software synthesizer when booting finished via running 'swspeak'
114
rebuildfstab (generate /etc/fstab): partitions have new mount-options:
115 'noauto,nouser,dev,suid,exec'; improved partition detection (e.g. reiser4
122
Based on vanilla kernel 2.6.16.1 including several patches (Reiser4,
